By drawing on the visual memory skills of most of today’s learners, our products provide a practical way for students, educators, children and adults to:
• learn to locate all countries of the world on a map, by acquiring a visual memory of something unique and interesting for each country;
• learn the locations of many World Heritage sites deemed by UNESCO to be of outstanding and lasting value to humanity.
• learn introductory GIS skills (Geographic Information Systems);
• learn locations of several vital world ecosystems and biodiversity centers;
• learn locations of critical habitats for the world’s major endangered species;
• learn to see the world from a larger perspective
• visualize current and historic events in their geographic context, thus helping to
kindle an interest in world affairs;
• develop and exercise Internet research and critical thinking skills
“Icebreaker” for e-learning networks
Since the culture or heritage of every country on Earth is represented through its postage stamps in our Learn the World™ kits, our products can be used to open dialogues across political boundaries. World PEAS is thus an ideal catalyst or icebreaker in helping teachers and students launch learning-enhancing discussions and collaborative educational projects with classrooms in other parts of the world, such as those undertaken through various emerging e-learning networks and other virtual communities of students (e.g., e-PALS Classroom Exchange, Global Gateway, Global SchoolNet and iEARN-International Education and Resource Network.)
